Donald S. Johnson
|
For more than 16 years, Don Johnson made exceptional contributions to the Royal St. John's Regatta in a variety of important positions. He always displayed an immense amount of affection for the Regatta and always worked for the betterment of the event itself.
He became a member of the Royal St. John's Regatta Committee in 1986 after being the event's friend within his government position for ten or 12 years. His great work on an annual basis continued until he was afforded honorary life membership in December 2001.
|
His contributions to the Regatta were varied and considerable, as he served on the Board of Directors as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, President, and Past-President. In each and every position he set a very high standard of performance.
He filled the "captain-of-the-course" position with great common sense and with unqualified success for the two years that he was required to act in the position.
He filled the position of Royal St. John's Regatta Hall of Fame Chair and Secretary with dignity and fairness for six years.
